RIP Morosini

Livorno player Piermario Morosini tragically passed away today after collapsing during his side’s Serie B match against Pescara. It’s been confirmed that he arrived dead at the hospital and was unable to be revived. In light of the tragedy, all Italian football matches this weekend have been postponed to an unspecified date, including Roma’s match tomorrow. More news as we hear it.

What a game. What a glorious, glorious game. Ladies and gentlemen, that was Roma. The initial lead, the following possession that led to nothing, the awful defense on the goal conceded, and dramatic finishes at the end. It was a stereotypical Roma win, and it was a stereotypical Roma win over Udinese thanks to Totti’s late strike that took Roma into the lead.

Serie A has been reduced. The decline in the country’s European coefficient means that only three teams instead of the usual four will be able to enter into the UEFA Champions’ League next season. Two of these spots are almost certainly secure; with eight games left, Milan and Juventus are 13 and 11 points respectively above third. Barring a catastrophic end of the season, those two will certainly qualify for entry into the group stages of the Champions’ League.
