Walter Sabatini Talks Suarez and Kjaer
Walter Sabatini recently shot down rumors that the team were looking to sign Luis Suarez of Liverpool. ” There have not been any negotiations for Suarez”, according to goal.com. He also said that the Simon Kjaer’s fate on the team will be decided at the end of the season. As it stands he could be headed back to Wolfsburg. Sabatini made a comment about how a Champions League spot may change some of their strategies for next season. “Qualifying for the Champions League would allow us to change our market strategies.” Roma would still have to win a playoff match to make it into the group stages of the Champions League should they make it to 3rd place
Gago Wants In Next Season
Football-italia reported that Fernando Gago wants to stay in Roma, but admits that the decision is not up to him. “I would like to stay at Roma, but it doesn’t just depend on me – it will be up to the club and also Real Madrid.” the on loan midfielder has scored one goal for the Giallorossi. However he has been seeing a lot of playing time as Pjanic and Greco have been injured, and when De Rossi has to fill in as a center back.
Speaking of Pjanic
Miralem Pjanic seems to have recovered from injury and will be on the squad at the Stadio Via del Mare this Saturday to take on Lecce. He was left out of last week’s game against Novara, but will more than likely start from the bench tomorrow. Meanwhile, Totti, Borini, Juan, Cassetti, Greco, and Lobont will not included in the team’s squad due to injuries.
The French Connection
A story on goal.com reported that Roma’s directors already have another coach in mind for next season should they choose to let Enrique go. Didier Deschamps for Olympique de Marseiille could be make his way to the capital. Deschamps does bring some pedigree with him and has already coached Juventus when they were in Serie B. He has expressed a desire to return to Italy. Under his management Marseiille won the Ligue 1 in 2010, 2011, the Coupe de la Ligue in 2010, 2011 and the Trophee des Champions 2010, 2011. Marseiille were recently taken out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals. Certainly a coach with league trophies and Champions League experience would be welcomed.
