April 3rd 2012: A Primavera Derby and De Rossi’s Beliefs

There’s so much news today that if words were food, even Fabio Simplicio would be stuffed. Let’s get to it!

De Rossi: We Believe

Roma capitano futuro/presente Daniele De Rossi says the side should believe in a run towards third place. “Third place? We must believe. We don’t have to change anything to reach it” the midfielder stated in an interview released today. “Surely Napoli’s, Lazio’s, and Udinese’s losses are an advantage.” De Rossi also singled out oft-maligned defender Simon Kjaer for praise for his performance against Novara. “Sunday he helped me a lot. He was one of the ones who helped me the most also because he knows the movement of the defense better than I do and I thanked him for that. I think he’s great.” De Rossi partnered the Dane at the back in the match during the weekend, which ended 5-2 for a Roma victory.

Gago Presser

Fernando Gago will host a press interview tomorrow at 12:30 Italy time in Trigoria.

Trigoria News

Francesco Totti trained in the gym today; Miralem Pjanic has some muscle discomfort but is expected to make the match this weekend; Fabio Simplicio is expected to miss the Lecce game due to a hip problem. Fabio Borini and Leandro Greco are continuing to recover, while Nicolas Burdisso will be in Argentina for the next two weeks to continue his long term injury recovery. Gabriel Heinze nearly finished his whole workout and should be good to go. The only doubt seems to be whether Totti or Erik Lamela will partner Bojan Krkic and Pablo Osvaldo up top.

Mercato News… With Some Actual News?!

Now this is intriguing: reports indicate that Walter Sabatini is keeping a close eye on Bayern Munich defender Breno. The 22-year-old Brazilian has not featured for the Bundesliga giants in a single match in the German league this year and could be available for pretty cheap.

Primavera Derby!

Tomorrow Roma’s primavera take on Lazio in a showdown for top spot in the Campionato Nazionale Primavera. Lazio’s U-20 side are currently a point ahead of Roma, albeit with two more games played.

Roma: some are chosen, few are called, and one is Totti.

  • Anthony Hill

I think Kjaer with a quick CB partner would be much better off so that his lack of speed doesn’t seem so pronounced.

So you’re not looking forward to Kjaer-Heinze this weekend, in other words.

I think he also could use some “defending in the box” help. Always bulls people over risking card/pk. Watch Cannavaro films..the guy was a genius at it. Maldini/Nesta/all the greats. he could use some of that. Cuz I think he HAS the skill – just needs some grooming.

Out of all the players we have selled or loaned out I think we miss brighi’s services the most.. I have come to this conclusion on our game against Atalanta.DDR was out and gago can’t replace him very well. Brighi absolutely dominated our entire midfield the work ethic and effort that he brings in to the pitch is mind blowing. I can only criticize LE for this descion brighi would have been a superb sub for DDR..but hey it’s the story of his life working super hard but never getting noticed nor appreciated .I miss spalo for this particular reason he appreciated brighi’s work more than any other coach.
